Give Awards

An award is a form of recognition that carries an award badge with the option of monetary value and a certificate attached to it. You can give an award to anyone in the organisation - team members, managers, and peers - as a way to recognise their work or attitude (conditioned to the restrictions defined by the super admin).

Each award will have a non-negative reward value attached to it (zero or more). These reward values come in the form of ‘Empuls points’ that will be transferred to the account of the award winner. Depending on the budget, awards may vary - with no or a varied denomination of Empuls points.

The Awards menu is the second item in the left panel below Groups. Clicking on the Awards menu item will display a drop-down menu with various functions.

Super admin will be able to set up the Award Names, description, logo, frequency, start and end date as the basic details.

Intelligent award suggestions

To assist users in their rewarding decisions, Empuls now prompts award givers with the complete reward history of the recipients. These intelligent prompts help award givers avoid:

Biased rewarding: Instances of rewarding/nominating the same recipient repeatedly.

Duplicate rewarding: Instances of the same recipients being rewarded by multiple users for the
same reason. When a recipient is chosen for a reward, the system indicates the details of his/her
previous achievement.

The nomination based awards need approval process because it prevents the rewarding process to be affected by biases and misrepresentations. This helps in maintaining a transparent culture of appreciation and ensures that a well-deserved pat-on-the-back is not missed out.

The nominations submitted by the employees are usually screened on the basis of language, relevance of the explanation, etc. The screening can happen at one or more levels based on the organisation's preference. This is usually done by the HRBP or reporting manager's of the nominee. The screened nominations are sent for approval to the jury.

The process of selecting the winner(s) begins with a set of screened nominations that the jury has to choose from. Here, the jury would decide which nomination is more deserving than the other ones. Each jury member can let their preference be known by ranking the nominations from 1st to last for that award. This way the collective list will be created with the most preferred choice for the award to the least preferred ones. The presenter of the award (Super Admin) then selects one or more nominations (based on organisation policy, budget availability, etc) and publishes the awards.

By ranking the nominations, the jury are collectively providing the list of nominations in order of most deserving to least deserving, the super admin then publishes the award.

Why is the star rating system not used? The rating based system has a greater probability of same scores for nominations. A jury member can rate all members as 5 star which is equivalent to not rating at all. Similarly rating 2 or more members with the same value introduces ambiguity in the process of selecting the winner.

What happens to nominations that are received after/during the jury selects the winners ? The nominations should be submitted before the jurors start choosing the winners and no nominations should be allowed during or after the selection process.

What will the process flow be when an approver raises a nomination? The nomination will directly move to the relevant approval level. The nominator will be asked to approve the nomination there itself, as opposed to getting a notification for approval.

Who holds the authority to approve for nomination? Kindly reach out to your HR as the decisions on the authority approval is made by your HR.

What is the validity for Nomination Approval? Kindly reach out to your HR as the decisions on the Validity and timelines is made by your HR.

*Can I nominate the same employee more than once?
Yes. You can nominate the employee more than once at different times. However, there will a pop up which will give you info when a recipient is chosen for a reward, the system indicates the details of his/her previous achievement.
